Sara Fendelman is an artist (painting, drawing, glass) and fine arts educator (grades K-8). Her artwork consists of sculptural, functional and decorative pieces, as well as 2-d works of art.
Biography
Sara Fendelman is an artist and teacher living and working in New York City. She grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and has been involved in the arts from a young age. She excelled in drawing and painting and received several scholarships throughout high school. Sara’s love of art continued through her higher education pursuits, having graduated from Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with a BFA in glass. While there, Sara concentrated on her love of education along with her passion for glass blowing. While still in school and continuing post graduation, Sara began her career as an arts educator. She worked as an art teacher for prestigious arts schools such as the Abington Art Center and the Philadelphia Art and Music School. After several successful years as an arts educator in Philadelphia, Sara moved to New York.
Sara’s love of art, glass and education lead her to New York City. Upon arriving, she began work in a Chelsea art gallery. Her experience there shed light into the inner workings of the art world. After finishing her time at the gallery, Sara continued her career as an art teacher. Sara is in her 5th year as the fine arts teacher at St. Elizabeth School in Washington Heights. She is also currently enrolled in the Masters of Art Education program at the City College of New York.
Sara’s other interests include animal welfare. She has worked for and volunteered at the ASPCA in New York City. In addition, Sara previously volunteered at PACCA (Philadelphia Animal Care and Control) while living in Philadelphia. Sara also keeps busy with her two big, beautiful girls! Both Labrador Retrievers, Kaya (the chocolate twelve-year-old) and Alvie (the black almost-two-year-old) love swimming, the snow and being with mom!
